Eastern Market is holding a special holiday event (free to the public) this Sunday, December 19 from 12pm – 6pm. The North Hall will be filled with holiday festivities! Throughout the afternoon there will be live holiday music including jazz trios and a cappella groups! In between sets, get your friends and grab a special Eastern Market Songbook and belt out a few carols on your own! Stop in and warm up with gingerbread decorating, hot chocolate & hot cider. And if you still need your tree… North Hall will be filled with them!

But perhaps most importantly, Santa has confirmed that he is making a last minute stop to Eastern Market on Sunday. He will be operating out of his satellite office (the North Hall) from 2pm-4pm! Santa’s elves report that this unscheduled visit is due to some extra special wish lists that he’s received from children on Capitol Hill! So, bundle up the kids and get thee to the North Hall to sit on Santa’s lap to share those last minute wishes with the big man! And apparently, Eastern Market met with Santa’s head elves yesterday to confirm his visit and they mentioned that Santa looks exactly (and we mean EXACTLY) like Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells (wink, wink)! Oh, except for the whole beard thing.
